This intensive is a highly personalized experience led by both a NICU Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). The extended format allows families to receive ongoing education, reassurance, troubleshooting, and hands-on support in the comfort of their own home during the critical early postpartum period.
Unlike a traditional lactation consultation focused on a single feeding session, the Newborn Breastfeeding Intensive provides extended, in-home support for 8–12 hours at a time. This allows for real-time guidance across multiple feedings, pumping sessions, newborn cues, and transitions throughout the day as they naturally occur.
A Newborn Breastfeeding Intensive is a multi-day, in-home or extended support experience focused entirely on helping you and your newborn build confidence and consistency with feeding.
During this intensive, I work closely with your family to:
Support early latch and positioning
Address pain or discomfort with nursing
Monitor feeding patterns and milk transfer
Help establish milk supply
Support pumping when needed
Answer real-time questions as they arise
Adjust strategies as your baby grows and changes
This service is ideal for families who want hands-on guidance, reassurance, and continuity of care during the early postpartum period.
This service is especially helpful for:
Families who want continued, hands-on support during the early postpartum period
First-time parents
Families with previous feeding challenges
Families who want proactive feeding support
Parents recovering from a difficult or unexpected birth
NICU graduates transitioning home
Families experiencing early latch or feeding challenges
Parents who want more than a single consultation
Anyone looking for a more comprehensive level of care and reassurance at home
The intensive is designed to meet families where they are—providing steady support when feeding feels new, uncertain, or overwhelming.
Newborn Breastfeeding Intensives are customized based on your needs and may include:
In-Home Support
Extended, hands-on sessions in your home where we observe feeds, practice techniques, and adjust in real time.
Multi-Day Structure
Support may span multiple days (such as 3–5 days), allowing for continuity as feeding evolves and questions arise.
Each intensive includes:
A comprehensive feeding assessment
Observation of multiple feeds
Latch and positioning support
Pumping and milk supply guidance (if needed)
Education on newborn feeding cues and patterns
Ongoing adjustments and reassurance
A personalized feeding plan you can continue after the intensive ends
The early postpartum period sets the tone for the rest of your feeding journey. Consistent, informed support during this time can:
Reduce pain and frustration
Build confidence early
Support milk supply establishment
Prevent common feeding challenges from escalating
Help parents feel calmer and more capable
Instead of troubleshooting issues after they become stressful, the intensive allows families to build skills and confidence from the start.
Feeding challenges and questions often arise outside of a single scheduled feeding. Extended visits allow for support across multiple feeding sessions and provide the opportunity to make adjustments in real time as your baby’s needs change throughout the day.
